National Park’s Planning Committee

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority –
Development Management Committee

This, of course, is the Park’s Committee specifically responsible for planning matters. Although, it next meets at the National Parks main offices, at Llanion Park, Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire on Wed. 8th July, 2015, we have now been informed that (yet again) this application will not be on the agenda for discussion at that time (including re a possible site meeting) let alone for determination. This means that the earliest this application can now be decided by this Committee is at their next following meeting on Wednesday, 12th August at and after 10:00 am. Our current understanding is that this planning application (NP/15/0194/FUL) could be on the agenda at that time, probably for a determination.

At the very very least we hope to persude the Committee to defer that determination, to await a site visit here to Newport, to come see and appreciate, among many other matters, the narrowness and awkwardness of the lanes and junctions involved etc. If approved for a site inspection at the 12 Aug. meeting, that could only now take place on the following Mon 24 August instead. In any event thereafter, the earliest following Committee meeting at which the application could next be considered isn’t then until –  Wed 30 September !

However, with no guarantees that the Committee will see the obvious common sense in agreeing to a site visit, on Weds. 12th. August we should all be ready to turn up in Pembroke Dock in numbers, in order to demonstrate our strength of feeling. Further updated news will be added here on this – as and when we get it !

At present this Committee operates a policy of only hearing from one objector (!) no matter how many turn up and with no consideration given to the very different issues and concerns they may wish to raise separately. We hope, given the scale of this development proposal and the strength of local  feelings generated,  to pursuade them to be more reasonable. However, come prepared to ‘speak’ your opposition visually rather than verbally (!). Shared lifts can be  arranged through us nearer to the time, and a let’s hope a ‘good time’ is yet to be had by all – except the developer of course !

If you want to try and speak to this Committee about this proposal, you should start by applying on the Park’s pro forma application available on their site – click here.
